SANTO DOMINGO (AFP) Aug 11, 2003
A unit of 150 troops from the Dominican Republic was set to depart Monday for Spain en route to support the coalition in Iraq, armed forces chief General Jose Miguel Soto Jimenez said.

In Spain, "they will be undergoing training, the first 150 Dominican troops, out of a total of 300 who will take part in reconstruction operations" in Iraq.

The Quisqueya (Dominican) Task Force will be under the command of Spanish forces inside the military sector overseen by Poland, he said.
