Six-way talks on the North Korean nuclear crisis will be held in Beijing from August 27 to 29, South Korea's foreign ministry announced Thursday.

"Six-nation talks involving South Korea, North Korea, the United States, Japan, China and Russia will be held from August 27 to 29 in Beijing," the ministry said in a statement.

"The government welcomes the six-party talks and appreciates efforts by all concerned nations to realize the talks."

Participants in the meeting will be the United States, China, Japan, Russia and the two Koreas.

"The government hopes the nuclear issue will be resolved peacefully through the six-way talks and will make active efforts for that goal," the ministry said.
