. Second Swedish soldier dies after bomb blast in Afghanistan
STOCKHOLM (AFP) Dec 09, 2005
A second Swedish NATO peacekeeper has died from injuries sustained in an explosion in Afghanistan last month, the Swedish military said on Friday.

The soldier was identified as 30-year-old Tomas Bergqvist.

He was one of four Swedish soldiers injured in a blast while on patrol in Mazar-i-Sharif, in the north of Afghanistan, on November 25.

Another soldier died from his injuries in the hours after the explosion. One has been released from hospital, while one remains in hospital.

The four were part of Sweden's special elite forces and were working with a British provincial reconstruction team in the region.

Sweden currently has 100 troops in Afghanistan as part of NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), though that number will soon rise to almost 400.
