A court in Siberia has sentenced a man to nine years in prison on treason charges, after he was accusing of having transferred money to finance Ukraine's armed forces, the regional FSB office said on Monday.Since sending troops into Ukraine nearly three years ago, Moscow has regularly handed heavy prison sentences to people it accuses of spying or aiding Ukraine.
The latest case centred on Sergei Loshakov, a resident of Surgut in Siberia.
Loshakov, who was "hostile to Russia's internal and foreign policies", was convicted of contacting an unidentified person on the Telegram messaging service, before transferring money for the Ukrainian army, the state RIA Novosti news agency quoted the FSB as saying, without providing details.
A regional court in Khanty-Mansiisk region ordered him to serve nine years in a high-security penal colony.
Russia has punished thousands of its citizens for opposing the Ukraine campaign.
