War in the Middle East: latest developments Paris, France, March 11 (AFP) Mar 11, 2026 Here are the latest events in the Middle East war:
Several ships have been reported hit in the strategic waterway in recent days.
Japan's prime minister said the country would start to release its reserves on Monday. Earlier, G7 energy ministers said they "stand ready" to take "all necessary measures" in coordination with the IEA.
It also said it targeted US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.
The health ministry said Israeli strikes have killed 570 people in Lebanon so far, the health ministry said, including 439 men, 45 women and 86 children. 14 healthcare workers were among the dead. Earlier. the ministry said an Israeli strike killed seven people and wounded 18 others in the eastern Lebanon town of Tamnin al-Tahta, in a building that state media said was "inhabited by a Syrian family".
It was not immediately clear whether the incident was one of three commercial ships that the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations centre earlier said had been hit in the Gulf.
Iran's military vowed to launch strikes against US and Israeli economic targets in the region, including banks, and urged people to refrain from going within one kilometre of banks. The warning came after overnight attacks reportedly hit an Iranian bank, killing an unspecified number of employees.
"I heard news that Mr Mojtaba Khamenei had been injured. I have asked some friends who had connections. They told me that, thank God, he is safe and sound," said Yousef Pezeshkian, who is also a government adviser. State television had called Khamenei a "wounded veteran of the Ramadan war" but never specified his injury.
