War in the Middle East: latest developments Paris, France, April 4 (AFP) Apr 04, 2026 The latest developments in the Middle East war:
An attack near the Bushehr nuclear power station killed one of the facility's guards but caused no damage, the official IRNA news agency said. The IAEA, the UN nuclear watchdog, said the fourth strike near the plant since the war started did not cause increased radiation levels. An attack on a petrochemical hub in the southwestern port city of Mahshahr wounded five people, the Fars news agency said, citing the regional deputy governor. Iranian media said a strike on a trade terminal in Khorramshahr, on the border with Iraq, killed one person. ISNA news agency said the fatality was an Iraqi driver, and two Iranian workers were wounded. Another strike hit a cement factory in the southern port of Bandar Khamir, without causing casualties or disrupting operations, Tasnim news agency said.
Turkey said a second Turkey-flagged ship also went through the strait. On Friday, tracking data showed one French-owned ship and one Japanese-owned vessel had passed through. The increased maritime traffic through the strait -- which Iran effectively closed soon after the US-Israeli war started -- pointed to an arrangement likely involving payments to avoid attacks. Shipping journal Lloyd's List said Iran has established a route through its waters dubbed the "Tehran Toll Booth".
Earlier, Lebanon's health ministry said Israeli airstrikes in Tyre that wounded 11 people damaged several buildings, including a hospital.
The PMF -- now part of Iraq's regular army but containing pro-Iran factions -- has been repeatedly targeted since the outbreak of war on February 28.
They were the latest in a series of executions targeting the banned People's Mujahedin of Iran (MEK). Four other members were executed earlier in the week.
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said the blast occurred inside a UN facility near El Adeisse on Friday. Indonesia said there was an "urgent need to strengthen protection for UN peacekeeping forces".
Israel's emergency services said a 45?year?old man was treated for minor injuries from glass shrapnel in the central city of Bnei Brak.
