Regarded as an industry leader, Landshield stands out due to its unique design and functionalities. Despite having the compact dimensions of a hockey puck, Landshield brings forth a profound combination of lightweight, minimal power consumption, and extraordinary adaptability, ensuring its operational efficiency on land, sea, and air platforms. It has been designed to counteract jamming and spoofing attempts, thereby safeguarding the integrity of GPS signals for military systems that deploy it.
Additionally, the Landshield product line presents an advantageous feature of notifying its users regarding the presence and the location of intrusive signals. These real-time notifications are instrumental in equipping users with the necessary situational awareness intelligence, which can prove critical to successful operations in GPS-contested environments.
The acquisition of the 1,000th unit of Landshield, which includes Landshield Plus, is reflective of the continued trust placed in Raytheon UK's suite of anti-jamming capabilities by the MoD. "This sustained investment has allowed us to develop our partnership with the MoD and innovate in the most impactful ways," stated Rory Chamberlain, Business Development Executive at Raytheon UK.
For over two decades, Raytheon UK has been committed to the development, manufacturing, and supply of its comprehensive range of anti-jam products. Operating out of its sophisticated manufacturing facilities located in Glenrothes and Livingston, Scotland, the company had over 16,000 anti-jamming systems in active service worldwide on various platforms in the previous year.
Given the upswing in demand for anti-jamming products, Raytheon UK has adapted its manufacturing processes, and additionally invested in its supply chain to promptly cater to pressing needs.
In a modern world, where GPS plays an increasingly crucial role in a multitude of applications ranging from financial systems to military operations, defending the accuracy and reliability of GPS has become more important than ever. "By producing a product that continues to receive the backing of MoD, it demonstrates to us that we are delivering a level of capability that keeps us ahead of our adversaries," said Sam Missett, head of Assured Position, Navigation and Timing at Raytheon UK.
This sustained investment from the MoD and the wide acceptance of the Landshield system underscores the pivotal role of anti-jamming systems in modern warfare. With this key acquisition, the MoD continues to bolster its defense capabilities while promoting industry innovation in GPS signal protection.
