Loral Skynet Adds IDirect Equipment For Its Private Networking Services

Herndon VA (SPX) Oct 28, 2004
IDirect Technologies Wednesday announced that Loral Skynet has agreed to implement four iDirect broadband IP hub chassis products as part of Loral Skynet's global IP-based private networking services.

Loral Skynet plans to launch the satellite service using the iDirect hub and remote equipment throughout the first quarter of 2005. The world's leading satellite network operators such as Intelsat and SES Americom currently utilize iDirect hubs for their global networking services, as do the world's top telecom carriers such as British Telecom, MCI, and Equant.

"Loral Skynet is leading the way in meeting the global demand for IP-based broadband services and applications by expanding our portfolio of services," said Jon Kirchner, vice president of global marketing for Loral Skynet.

"We have added iDirect's platform to our SkyReach IP-services family, with its proven record of performance and reliability, to enhance the delivery of our broadband services to our customers who want to connect to countries around the world using our hybrid network, particularly for private connectivity."

iDirect has been able to differentiate its technology within the satellite market by offering customers unique, efficient and practical solutions.

A single 5IF iDirect hub router can access five different satellites, enable multiple real private networks, deliver aggregate speeds of up to 360 Mbps, and support C, Ku, and Ka band transponders with carrier class redundancy.

The iDirect hub solution supports secure encrypted communications, and recently received the world's first FIPS 140-2 government encryption certification for its built-in encryption technology.

"Loral Skynet is a well respected leader in the satellite industry and we greatly look forward to working with them to help build their global satellite networking capabilities," said John Kealey, CEO of iDirect Technologies.

"This is a significant relationship for iDirect and further highlights the fact that the leading companies in this industry are choosing iDirect platforms for their expansion."
