Hughes Network Systems announced Monday that the company is offering a new managed telecommunications service designed to provide enterprises with a broadband network solution optimized for their business environment. The offering, Direcway Unified Broadband, enables organizations to deploy the best available broadband technology at every site based on business need. It also empowers IT managers to maintain control of network activities while reducing costs and enhancing network performance. Initially, Direcway Unified will consist of services using satellite, DSL, and Frame Relay technologies. As customer business needs evolve and emerging technologies mature, HNS will incorporate new forms of broadband to meet those needs. Preferred technologies can be deployed across the enterprise or on a site-by-site basis to maximize performance. "HNS designed Direcway Unified Broadband Services with our customers in mind," said Mike Cook, senior vice president, HNS. "Every customer with whom we have vetted this approach is enthusiastic about the opportunity to introduce emerging, high-performance technologies into their network architecture while maintaining their trusted relationship with HNS. "We're confident that Direcway Unified will allow HNS to reach an even greater share of the enterprise broadband market - particularly those facing the challenges of multi-vendor management."
Reducing Risk, Maintaining Control, Streamlining Management HNS' managed service approach creates a single point of contact for enterprise-wide broadband connectivity. This enables network managers to benefit from the vast experience of HNS in the management of enterprise networks and to choose the optimal broadband solution for their enterprise. With Direcway Unified, IT managers can monitor network implementation and activity in real time using the HNS customer portal. This Web-based interface allows for ongoing performance monitoring, including troubleshooting, so that administrators are never out of touch with network operations and have a complete picture of network operations. By having access to multiple technologies from a single vendor, customers will have the opportunity to optimize network performance and costs. They will also be able to use technologies in combination to provide resilient, highly available networks or to overlay efficient multicast capabilities onto basic transaction oriented access.
