BlackSky Technology Inc. (NYSE: BKSY) has signed a seven-year contract exceeding $100 million with a long-standing strategic partner in the international defense sector. The agreement ensures annual capacity minimums for high-resolution, real-time monitoring services using BlackSky's current Gen-2 and upcoming Gen-3 space-based technologies, extending through 2032.

"Dawn-to-dusk, high-cadence monitoring has become a foundational piece for many of our customers' daily intelligence operations," said Brian O'Toole, CEO of BlackSky. "This commitment now gives the customer priority, long-term access to capacity with the flexibility to accommodate novel Gen-3 features as end user requirements evolve."

BlackSky's Gen-2 constellation, integrated ground communication systems, and the Spectra tasking and analytics platform have significantly elevated industry standards for low-latency, space-based intelligence. With a software-driven, subscription model, BlackSky offers seamless integration of its advanced Gen-3 capabilities, which include ultra-high-resolution 35 cm imagery and sub-hourly revisit times, into customer operations as these innovations are rolled out.

This defense sector partner will be among the first to utilize these enhanced features, enabling faster and more precise intelligence-gathering workflows.

"This contract validates market demand for the transformative capabilities that BlackSky uniquely delivers through our proven end-to-end, next-generation AI-enabled commercial architecture," O'Toole added. "Our customers rely on BlackSky as a trusted partner, delivering real-time decision quality data at mission speed."

BlackSky's global network provides thousands of high-resolution images and analytics each month, offering critical insights into key areas of interest such as border crossings, nuclear sites, port facilities, and other vital national security and economic infrastructure.
