Capella Space Corp., a US-based provider of satellite data solutions, has launched its AI-driven Vessel Classification service for high-resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery. This service is integrated with Capella's secure tasking web application and API, allowing users to simultaneously place Tasking requests and order Vessel Classification. The service also includes access to historical imagery for comprehensive time series analysis.

Capella Space's Vessel Classification automates the detection and classification of vessels, improving analyst efficiency and precision. Unlike generic models, this service is tailored to Capella's high-resolution SAR imagery, enhancing its effectiveness.

The service utilizes technology from EMSI, known for its geospatial intelligence solutions and long-standing collaborations with the US Department of Defense and Intelligence community. EMSI combines advanced AI and machine learning with deep SAR expertise to deliver superior insights to Capella's customers.

"When it comes to intelligence, speed and accuracy is of the essence. Capella's all-in-one Tasking platform is not only convenient, but also effectively minimizes the latency from tasking to intelligence extraction," said Dan Getman, VP of Product at Capella Space. "Coupled with Capella's high-quality and high-resolution imagery, Vessel Classification simplifies the power of SAR to make 24/7, all-weather insights more accessible than ever."

The platform enables customers to request high-resolution SAR imagery integrated with Vessel Classification, providing detailed geospatial intelligence globally, including in critical maritime areas like ports and choke points. This service supports various maritime applications such as supply chain analysis, economic tracking, and monitoring activity patterns. It also allows enhanced monitoring of vessel movements in strategic locations, ensuring comprehensive coverage and analysis.

Capella Space has also developed an extensive imagery archive that offers detailed analysis across numerous ports, further aiding in-depth maritime studies.
