China has launched a new experimental satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern Gobi desert on Sunday, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The Shijian-11-07 was boosted by Long March 2C launch vehicle at 05:13 UTC.
This is the seventh in a series of satellites that - according to Chinese media - known as "experimental satellites".
They are developed by China Spacesat Co. under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.
The Shijian series of satellites has been used for scientific research and experiments in space. The first Shijian-11 satellite was launched on November 12, 2009.
This launch was the 194th successful Chinese orbital launch and 193th launch of the Long March rocket series.
