Electra.aero, Inc. (Electra), a trailblazer in the Direct Aviation sector, has received 2,200 pre-orders for its EL9 Ultra Short hybrid-electric aircraft. This order volume, valued close to $9 billion, ranks among the most significant in the Advanced Air Mobility industry.

Designed to revolutionize regional aviation, Electra's Ultra Short aircraft merges blown lift technology with hybrid-electric propulsion, enabling it to take off and land within just 150 feet. This capability allows it to serve locations with limited or no aviation infrastructure, meet stringent noise standards at urban airports, and unlock new possibilities for cargo transport and passenger services. Its adaptability also offers vital logistical support to military forces, allowing operations from unprepared surfaces, enhancing safety, reducing costs, supporting ground missions, and executing critical transport roles.

"Electra's Ultra Short is the unlock for a new era of air travel - what we call Direct Aviation - that is as transformative as it's practical," said Marc Allen, CEO of Electra. "Hybrid-electric propulsion enables us to achieve what jet fuel alone can't do; we've created a fixed-wing airplane that delivers the access of a helicopter with 100 times less noise, 70 percent lower cost, improved safety, and dramatically reduced emissions. The response from the global aviation industry has been tremendous. Our customers see the EL9 aircraft as a true game-changer, and they're using its ultra-short takeoff capabilities to open the door to new routes in areas with space and noise constraints. Together, we're enabling a fundamental leap forward in advanced air mobility."

Electra's technology suite combines advanced aerodynamics and hybrid-electric power to deliver a versatile aviation solution previously considered unattainable. The aircraft provides enhanced access, minimized noise, cost savings, and environmental sustainability, all while operating within existing aviation infrastructure.

The EL9 can transport up to nine passengers or 3,000 pounds of cargo over distances reaching 1,100 nautical miles. Its in-flight battery recharge system eliminates reliance on ground-based charging, increasing operational flexibility. The aircraft's ability to utilize compact spaces such as grass fields, parking areas, and retrofitted heliports opens up regional mobility to underserved areas, making air transport for both people and goods more practical and widespread.

Newly announced customers include: Akansel (Turkey), Dieng and Co Engineering (Senegal) in partnership with Flow Aero (US/Turkey), Caverton Helicopters (Nigeria), Copenhagen Helicopter and Copenhagen Air Taxi (Denmark), 5 Star Helicopter Tours (US), Global Vectra Helicorp (India), and Helicidade Heilporto (Brazil). These operators are drawn by the EL9's reduced noise, efficiency, lower emissions, and safety features.

They join an expanding base of Electra customers integrating the EL9 into their operations to cut costs and serve new markets. This includes Bristow Group, a global leader in vertical flight services, and Electra's initial launch partner. Additional clients include private aviation platforms like JetSetGo and Blade India (India), Flapper (Brazil), flyv (Germany), LYGG (Finland), as well as U.S. regional airlines JSX and Surf Air.
