The FORGE C2 initiative aims to transition the capabilities of both legacy and future space assets to a Missile Warning ground baseline, maintained by the Space Systems Command. This transition is pivotal in ensuring that the existing operational capabilities remain uncompromised while modernizing the system.
Central to this effort is the transition of Command and Control (C2) capabilities, encompassing key areas such as Telemetry, Tracking and Commanding (TT&C), Mission Management (MM), Flight Dynamics (FD), Orbital Services (OS), and Ground Control/Ground Resource Management (GRM). These aspects are crucial in the effective management and operation of space missions.
Freedom Space Technologies initiated Phase I of the contract in late 2023, embarking on a 16-month period of performance. The company is set to deliver software solutions for FORGE C2, leveraging the revolutionary Freedom software platform developed by ATLAS Space Operations. This software is expected to bridge the current government systems with a newly developed prototype, signifying a creative and novel approach to space system architecture.
T.I. Weintraub, President of Freedom Space, expressed enthusiasm about the contract, stating, "Freedom Space is thrilled to receive its inaugural contract to support the Space Force in bringing ground station capabilities into modern architecture."
Weintraub emphasized the strategic location of the company in Colorado Springs, enhancing its proximity and engagement with government customers. He further highlighted the company's rich experience in supporting various civil government missions, including those with the Air Force, NASA, and NOAA, and its readiness to pivot this expertise towards assisting the Space Force in addressing new threats and mission requirements.
Similarly, Omni Federal's Director of Space Programs, Nate Moser, shared his pleasure in collaborating with Freedom Space. He recognized the company's extensive knowledge in cloud-based satellite ground stations, dynamic satellite scheduling, and military space operations. Moser also underscored Omni Federal's innovative and culture-first approach in revolutionizing DoD systems, a perspective shared and embraced by Freedom Space.
