The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is promoting its Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), a launch system initially developed to allow India to achieve its domestic space goals.

To date, 45 satellites from 19 countries have been successfully launched via PSLVs under commercial arrangements. The total income earned through launching of these foreign satellites amounts to some $103 million, Singh said, answering questions in the lower house of the Indian parliament.

India is expected to launch 28 additional satellites for various countries including Algeria, Canada, Germany, Indonesia, Singapore and the United States between 2015-2017, Singh added.

Further discussions with different foreign entities on the issue are ongoing, the minister said.

Singh added that India has agreed on the construction of 15 smaller PSLVs which would allow lower-priced launches.

Earlier in July, a PSLV put five British satellites into orbit. According to ISRO, it is the heaviest commercial mission to date.
