Intelsat Teams with PCCW Global to Expand IntelsatONESM Terrestrial Network
by Staff Writers
Hong Kong (SPX) May 04, 2012

Intelsat can now extend the reach of IntelsatONE to key locations in multiple Asian cities on PCCW Global's network, including Jakarta, Seoul, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, and major European cities including Amsterdam, Moscow and Stockholm.

Intelsat and PCCW Global have agreed to interconnect their MPLS networks. Intelsat and PCCW Global will be able to offer networking solutions and access to the world's premier video neighborhoods to customers in Asia and other regions of the world leveraging Intelsat's fleet of more than 50 satellites and its teleports in North America and Europe.

With interconnects in London, New York and Los Angeles, the agreement will also enable Intelsat's customers to expand into new regions via PCCW Global's extensive and robust network.

This is the first-ever interconnect between IntelsatONE and a partner network that supports both media and network services, meeting the growing demand from customers for converged delivery solutions in new locations around the globe.

Intelsat can now extend the reach of IntelsatONE to key locations in multiple Asian cities on PCCW Global's network, including Jakarta, Seoul, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, and major European cities including Amsterdam, Moscow and Stockholm.

Customers in these locations can take advantage of the expanding service capabilities and global network solutions offered by Intelsat's robust ground and space infrastructure.

The fiber agreement also facilitates access to the Stanley Earth Station teleport in Hong Kong, which offers connectivity to most of Intelsat's primary satellites in the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean regions via PCCW Global.

Richard Brolly, president of Americas of PCCW Global Inc., said, "This mutually beneficial agreement gives PCCW Global the ability to support global satellite networking solutions for our customers more effectively. It also allows us to support the expansion of IntelsatONE solutions via our network, and enhances the position of the Stanley teleport as a gateway for accessing Intelsat's Asia-Pacific satellite fleet."

"This interconnect agreement furthers our vision to offer global, converged media and network solutions to support the current and future requirements of our customers," said Intelsat SVP of Global Sales Kurt Riegelman.

"With IntelsatONE, customers can enter any market in the world - or multiple markets - and enjoy full access to Intelsat's portfolio of teleport hosting, network managed services and MCPC solutions.

In addition, our customers can develop their own point-to-point and point-to-multipoint private network solutions between nodes on the PCCW Global and IntelsatONE networks for contribution applications."
