Kymeta, a leader in flat-panel satellite antenna technology, announced the shipping of its Osprey u8 HGL terminal, the first hybrid geostationary/low Earth orbit (GEO/LEO/LTE) terminal designed for military applications, from its Woodinville, Washington facility. This landmark development marks the debut of the first commercially available multi-orbit terminal, as well as the initial multi-orbit terminal to integrate with Eutelsat OneWeb's LEO network. After its official introduction in October of the previous year, Kymeta is now addressing a significant order backlog.

In February, Kymeta showcased the Osprey u8 HGL's capabilities in field demonstrations, emphasizing its resilience, auto-PACE readiness, and suitability for the demanding conditions of military operations. The terminal's multi-orbit and multi-network functionality is expected to enhance availability, offering durability, low power consumption, minimal visibility, and user-friendliness.

The Osprey u8 HGL is equipped with a field swappable modem cartridge, including a OneWeb modem for Eutelsat OneWeb LEO network connectivity and an iDirect 950mp cartridge for GEO TRANSEC services. Additional cartridge options will soon be available to allow users to tailor the terminal to their specific mission requirements.

Military personnel have lauded the terminal for its comprehensive functionality and seamless LEO to GEO transition capabilities, underscoring Kymeta's commitment to meeting the urgent multi-orbit SATCOM needs of the military community.

Ian Canning, Chief Operating Officer at OneWeb Technologies, highlighted the Osprey's unique capability to support government PACE plans through its multi-network/orbit functionalities and the new addition of OneWeb LEO capabilities.

Jon Osler, Kymeta's Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Services, emphasized the critical importance of mobile connectivity in the military sector, praising the Osprey u8 HGL for its unparalleled adaptability and resilience in supporting operational and training missions.
