L-3 Communications has acquired ForceX Inc., a company specializing in ISR mission management software and geospatial application technology programs.

Terms of the acquisition, which was completed on Tuesday, were not disclosed.

"We have been strategically repositioning our portfolio by adding new capabilities that are aligned with our customers' priorities, and we are pleased to announce this acquisition, which furthers this objective," said Michael T. Strianese, L-3's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "ForceX complements L-3's core business, enhancing our product and system capabilities to compete in new markets, and expands our customer base."

ForceX, based in Tennessee, has been renamed L-3 ForceX and will be incorporated into L-3's Integrated Sensor Systems, which is part of L-3'ss Electronic Systems business segment.

L-3 ForceX products include cueing system software, hardware and video algorithms as well as wide-area sensor integration and software. Among its customers are the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Special Operations Command, the Naval Surface Warfare Center and Department of Defense agencies.

L-3 Communications said the acquisition is expected to add about 30 million to its revenue for 2016.
