M1 Support Services gets Air Force T-38 contract
Washington (UPI) Jun 22, 2016 - M1 Support Services has received a $193 million U.S. Air Force contract for T-38 Talon aircraft maintenance program operations and maintenance services.

The supersonic trainer contract will provide B-2 Stealth Bomber and U-2 Dragon Lady reconnaissance aircraft pilots with a companion training capability and adversary air assets for the F-22 Raptor community.

Work will be performed at Air Force bases in California, New Mexico, Virginia, Florida and Missouri, with an estimated completion date of September 2025.

The Air Combat Command Acquisition Management and Integration Center is the contracting activity.

First flown in 1959, the T-38 is used to prepare pilots for front-line fighter and bomber aircraft such as the F-15E Strike Eagle, the F-15C Eagle, the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the B-1B Lancer and the A-10 Thunderbolt, a service fact sheet states.

It is a twin-engine, high-altitude jet used in various roles because of its design, economy of operations, maintenance ease, high performance and solid safety record.

Lockheed Martin has broken ground on a Hercules training center for pilots and crew of C-130J transports and LM-100J commercial freighters.

The center, located at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Marietta, will include classroom space, training devices and a new, reconfigurable C-130J/LM-100J full mission simulator.

The Hercules Training Center is due to open in 2018.

"Our shared investment in the Hercules Training Center continues years of strong partnership between Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics to help equip pilots and aircrews worldwide to command the C-130 platform," said Sandy Samuel, vice president for training and simulation solutions.

"We are thrilled to offer our customers even more value through integrated training solutions right here in Marietta where the aircraft is produced."

George Shultz, vice president and general manager for air mobility and maritime missions, said: "As the C-130 original equipment manufacturer, Lockheed Martin has an unmatched knowledge of the Super Hercules to include providing the most effective training programs for C-130J crews.

"The Lockheed Martin partnership that is at the core of the Hercules Training Center delivers proven insights into the operation of the C-130J and LM-100J platforms."

Boeing gets $40 million Air Force delivery order
Washington (UPI) Jun 22, 2016 - Boeing has been awarded a $40 million delivery order for a previously awarded contract on must-pay items for the C-32 and C-40 aircraft.

The deal provides for contractor logistics support.

Work will be performed in Oklahoma, with an expected completion date of June 2017.

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is the contracting activity.

The C-32 provides transportation for national leaders, including primary customers such as the vice president, the first lady, members of the Cabinet and Congress.

It is based on the commercial Boeing 757-200 Business Jet.

The C-40 is based on the commercial Boeing 737-700 Business Jet. It is used by the military to transport U.S. leaders to locations worldwide.

Its primary passengers are combatant commanders but it also ferries members of the White House Cabinet and Congress.
