Paramount Group on Thursday revealed its next-generation Mbombe 8 infantry combat vehicle, a system the company says represents sophisticated, affordable land system technologies.

The 8x8 vehicle debuted at the Kazakhstan Defense Expo, the company said.

It is based on the Mbombe 6 design, which employs a new form of construction offering high levels of protection while keeping profile to a minimum, Paramount said.

The 28-ton gross weight vehicle features a 9-ton payload, which covers the weapon system, ammunition, crew and supplies.

It is powered by a six-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, with a max speed of 66 mph.

The vehicle also features STANAG 4569 Level 3+ ballistic protection and STANAG 4569 Level 4a and 4b blast protection.

A range of weapons and turrets can be integrated onto the vehicle while featuring a large internal volume due to the powerpack's position, Paramount said.

The first advanced Mbombe 8 is slated to begin mobility trials soon, and production will be done in South Africa or Kazakhstan.

Mbombe 8's coming-out party follows a May announcement that the company commenced Mbombe 6 production in Jordan as part of a partnership between the company and the Jordanian defense industry, Paramount said.
