Raytheon to support Silent Knight Radar development
by James Laporta
Washington (UPI) Jan 5, 2018

U.S. Special Operations Command has awarded a contract to Raytheon for the Silent Knight Radar Operational Flight program development.

The terms of the deal, announced Thursday by the Department of Defense, taps Raytheon to provide line items for the Silent Knight Radar Operational Flight program, a next-generation terrain following, terrain avoidance system designed to increase the situational awareness of fixed-wing transport aircraft in low visibility conditions.

The deal, worth more than $9.7 million, falls under an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract under a cost-plus-fixed-fee agreement, which is a cost-reimbursement contract that could provide Raytheon with additional funds depending on the negotiated fee terms determined when the contract was finalized and awarded.

The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity product orders will be funded through fiscal year 2018 research, development, test and evaluation and procurement, according to the Pentagon.

Raytheon will receive $3 million at the time of the award.
