Saab of Sweden reports it is supplying a second coastal surveillance and border protection system to Croatia.

The purchase price for the CoastWatch Coastal Surveillance Network was not disclosed, but Saab said the system is for Croatia's Ministry of Interior Border Police and will be operational by June.

The system provides real-time information from state-of-the-art radar sensors, long-range and thermal closed-circuit television cameras and an automatic identification system. Sensors are placed along the coastline and connect to control centers.

About 40 sensors will be employed.

Saab said the system will act as an extension to the system it sold to Croatia's Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure in 2010.

"The success of our maritime coastal surveillance and border protection systems continues,' said Anders Carp, head of Saab's Traffic Management unit, which is part of Saab's Electronic Defense Systems business.

"We are proud that Croatia continues to trust our systems, as shown by this extension of its capabilities with Saab. It is a testament to the effectiveness and reliability of the surveillance system that protects Croatia's borders."

Saab will cooperate with Croatia's Koncar - Engineering Co. for Plant Installation & Commissioning Inc., for system installation, communications infrastructure and maintenance.
