Independence Solar, together with its installation partner, Pat Munger Construction Company, have announced the completion of a rooftop solar energy system at the Connecticut distribution center for The Safety Zone, a leading manufacturer and distributor of safety products and equipment operating 1 million square feet of distribution centers located in Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland, Indiana, Florida, California and Asia. The 128,000+ square-foot distribution facility in Guilford, CT, a community outside of New Haven, now operates a 300-kW solar energy system that will generate 100% of its electrical needs from the sun, greatly reducing its overall energy costs and dependence on the regional utility company. The solar project involved the installation of 1248 solar PV panels and roof mounts. Renusol America provided the mounting system. "The Safety Zone has been in business for 40 years and is a leader in their industry. We were able to demonstrate how this solar energy system would cut their energy bills substantially and enhance the company's overall bottom line," said Independence Solar Vice-President James Schwartz

"By using the latest, most innovative solar products on the market, we were able to install the project quickly and efficiently with the highest quality components to deliver long-term performance for our customer." Renusol America's Renusol CS60 10-degree mounting system selected for the project represents the latest innovation in solar mounting system for flat roofs. The Renusol CS60 is the industry's first-ever 'one unit per one PV panel' mounting system and is changing how solar arrays are deployed on flat rooftops across America by eliminating solar array design restrictions inherent to traditional, rigid aluminum racking rails.

It is made from 100% recycled HMWPE, bringing another sustainable building solution to the US building industry. The mounting unit is pre-molded with fewer parts, which means savings on time and labor costs for solar installers.
