PanAmSat Subsidiary Offers Managed Satellite Network Solution![]() G2's new managed network solution service is built around the popular iDirect (pictured) technology. |
As such, it is an IP-based data communications platform that fully enables high-speed, private satellite networking for government agencies and their partners alike.
The G2 service supports nearly any global virtual private network (VPN) device without sacrificing traffic speeds or application functionality. With this secure network, customers are able to provide quality of service on any or all network applications, routes and terminals.
Through this solution, G2 also offers a variety of options that scale from small fixed site networks to rapid deployable very small aperture terminals (VSATs).
G2 will manage the network end-to-end and provide real-time operational data to its customers regarding usage and network optimization options. To supplement the service, G2 also provides remote site equipment, installation, shipping, licensing and integration into new or legacy networks.
"This new service offering responds directly to our customers needs for enterprise applications no matter where in the world they may be," said Tom Eaton, executive vice president of PanAmSat and president of G2 Satellite Solutions.
"This announcement underscores our commitment to provide the most sophisticated, scalable and cost effective satellite solutions to our government customers."
G2's managed network solution - based from its government teleport in Silver Spring, Maryland - extends over three satellites (Horizons 1 @ 127 degrees West Longitude for CONUS coverage at Ku-band, Telstar 12 @ 15 degrees West Longitude for European and Middle East coverage at Ku-band, and NSS 7 @ 338 degrees East Longitude for African/Middle Eastern Coverage at C-band), providing comprehensive single-hop reach across CONUS, Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
Additional hubs in Europe and Asia (with dedicated fiber "reachback" connections to the United States) provide a seamless global reach to almost anywhere on earth.
