China on Tuesday called on the United States to respect its interests in the Asia Pacific, as Washington seeks to boost its influence in the region. China's territorial disputes with countries including Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and Vietnam have intensified in recent years and its neighbours have accused Beijing of behaving aggressively.
