A major interdisciplinary project "Research on high-resolution sensing and electrical stimulation of sleep-wake neural electrical activity", led by Prof. CAI Xinxia from the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), in collaboration with Fudan University, Zhejiang University and Ruijin Hospital, has been approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).

The Project aims to develop high-resolution multi-channel implantable neural microelectrode arrays and smart neural chips for neural information detection and closed-loop stimulation. Research will focus on the high-resolution sensing and electrical stimulation of sleep-wake neural electrical activity.

The project is designed to discover the situ real-time discharge mechanism and regularity of neurons in multiple regions of brain during sleep-wake, reveal the mechanism of electrical stimulation modulating neural activity, and therefore to establish a novel theory and technology system for sleep-wake conversion mechanism.

With the development of high-performance direct neural interface core basic devices and smart neural chips, the research will help people improve life and health.

Intelligent Computing: The state of the art
Hangzhou, China (SPX) Jan 18, 2023
Human society on the verge of transforming from an information society to an intelligent society, where optimized computing can autonomously solve practical, real-world problems. Critically, this transition is dependent on the continued development of advanced computing theories and algorithms that impart varying degrees of intelligence to computing systems through autonomous perception, information gathering, analysis and reasoning-functions once reserved only for living organisms. Several of the ... read more
