Eutelsat, in collaboration with Sat One, has commenced the delivery of satellite-based services to remote and maritime regions in Australia and New Zealand, marking a significant step towards improved connectivity in these areas. This initiative leverages the capabilities of the OneWeb Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation, enabling high-speed, low-latency communication solutions for a variety of sectors including enterprise and maritime.

The partnership between satellite service provider Sat One and Eutelsat aims to address the connectivity challenges faced by enterprises operating in remote locations, such as mining sites and isolated communities, as well as maritime operations in Australian waters. The agreement represents a multimillion-dollar, multi-year commitment to enhancing internet access in regions traditionally underserved by conventional telecommunications infrastructure.

Daniel Fairbairn, CEO of Sat One, emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating, "This marks the beginning of a new era in connectivity for the Australasian region, designed to meet the unique demands of its diverse landscapes and maritime areas. Through our collaboration with Eutelsat OneWeb, we are at the forefront of offering enterprise-grade, resilient, and high-speed satellite services, ensuring operational continuity in even the most challenging environments."

Cyril Dujardin, Co-President of Eutelsat Group's Connectivity Business Unit, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, highlighting the strategic importance of the partnership with Sat One in meeting the intricate requirements of contemporary enterprises and maritime operations.

This development follows closely on the heels of the establishment of Eutelsat OneWeb LEO backhaul services in Australia, introduced by Telstra last month, further underscoring the growing emphasis on satellite technology as a solution for global connectivity issues.

The initiative is expected to significantly impact the operational capabilities of businesses and maritime operations within the region, offering them a competitive edge through reliable and efficient communication networks.
