The European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) has awarded multinational technology firm GMV a key contract to lead a consortium responsible for designing, developing, and deploying the Communications Hub for the EU's GOVSATCOM programme. The consortium also includes Indra and Hisdesat as critical partners.

This contract is the culmination of a competitive bidding process that involved the pre-selection of consortia and the execution of multiple parallel contracts to demonstrate the system's capabilities. GMV and its partners, including Hispasat and neXat, showed exceptional technical competence, flexibility, and commitment, which were instrumental in securing the contract.

With a maximum budget of euro 107 million, GMV will oversee an industrial team composed of European companies. The core team, consisting of GMV, Indra, and Hisdesat, will be pivotal to the project. GMV's expertise in space systems and cybersecurity, Indra's leadership in communication and control systems, and Hisdesat's operational knowledge will drive the success of this initiative, creating new opportunities for high-skilled employment across the companies involved.

The GOVSATCOM programme, a key component of the European Union's space initiative, will offer secure and cost-effective satellite communication services to authorized government users across EU Member States. These services will be crucial for activities such as crisis management, surveillance, and critical infrastructure management, with specific attention to polar regions.

A central part of GOVSATCOM's architecture, the Communications Hub, will ensure the delivery of satellite communication services to meet both planned and urgent operational needs. It will also integrate services from the EU's upcoming secure communications constellation, IRIS2, while maintaining stringent security and resilience standards.
