Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), a subsidiary of EchoStar Corporation (Nasdaq: SATS), has officially announced the commencement of services by its JUPITER 3 satellite to customers in various countries including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, and Colombia. Launched in July 2023, JUPITER 3 reached its designated orbit at the 95 West slot swiftly and was subjected to thorough testing before beginning commercial operations on December 19, 2023. Within the first 90 days, Hughes unveiled new HughesNet services tailored for consumer and business segments throughout the Americas.

Peter Gulla, Senior Vice President at Hughes, shared the enthusiastic reception from users and distributors, highlighting the significant demand for connectivity, especially in remote regions previously neglected or underserved by existing services. HughesNet's latest offerings are praised for aligning with market expectations regarding speed and affordability, introducing Fusion plans that deliver unprecedented low-latency connectivity to rural areas.

JUPITER 3 is distinguished by its capability to deliver speeds reaching up to 100 Mbps, employing over 300 spot beams and leveraging the Ka-band spectrum, enriched by Q-band and V-band for gateway operations. The satellite is complemented by an advanced cloud-based ground system, incorporating a private fiber backbone, and employs artificial intelligence for network and traffic management, optimizing latency and throughput in real-time.

The transformative impact of HughesNet service, powered by JUPITER 3, on individuals in connectivity-challenged locations was underscored by Tim Robinson, Owner of 21st Century Communications. He recounted instances where installations of HughesNet transformed lives, including a poignant moment where a homeowner was moved to tears by the realization of reliable internet access, underscoring the profound difference the service makes in the lives of its users.
