The CLS-200 builds on the proven design of the Silent Arrow GD-2000, recognized as the first heavy payload, autonomous, attritable cargo delivery aircraft to achieve full-scale production. This platform has been successfully deployed in the U.S. and other countries, launched from various aircraft such as the C-130H, MC-130J, C-27J, and Airbus A400M. The MEL Group, Silent Arrow's manufacturing partner in the UK, leads production under AS9100 standards, while Airbus DS Airborne Solutions GmbH supports distribution across European markets.
Unlike the unpowered GD-2000 glider, the CLS-200 integrates a propulsion unit and propeller system, enabling it to cover distances six times greater. This technology maintains affordability, allowing the drone to be used as a single-use asset. The CLS-200 can be air-dropped and can also take off from unimproved ground surfaces, naval platforms, and other locations.
"We'd like to thank the U.S. Air Force, AFRL and our Air Force Customer and End-User organizations for expanding Silent Arrow's warfighter offerings by awarding this competitive Direct to Phase II," said Chip Yates, Silent Arrow's Founder and CEO. "The flight testing at our Pendleton, Oregon facility will be exciting as we longline airdrop 5 units from our UH-1H rotorcraft and then deliver a 6th unit to the Air Force for their hands-on evaluation."
