IS propaganda magazine confirms French jihadists killed
Beirut, March 15 (AFP) Mar 15, 2019
An online propaganda magazine of the Islamic State group has confirmed the death of two French brothers who were members in air strikes by the US-led coalition.

In its issue published Thursday, Al-Naba wrote about Fabien Clain and his brother Jean-Michel in a section called "the life of a martyr".

"A Crusader airplane targeted him and he was killed," it said, referring to the coalition.

"A few days later, his brother Abu Othman (Jean-Michel) was killed in the same way," it said.

IS fighters are defending the last shreds of their "caliphate" against Kurdish-led forces backed by the coalition in the eastern Syrian village of Baghouz.

Fabien's "eldest daughter... was killed in Baghouz, and he did not survive her for long", the IS publication said.

During most of his time, Fabien worked at Al-Bayan Radio, it said.

His brother Jean-Michel worked at Ajnad, an IS media production group.

"They produced a lot of chants, as well as propaganda and inciting audio tracks," the propaganda oulet added.

Fabien "waged a lot of attacks, in defence of the homes of Muslims", it added.

The US-led coalition, of which France is also a member, confirmed Fabien's death last month.

Fabien, 41, gained notoriety after voicing an audio recording claiming responsibility for the November 2015 attacks in Paris, when IS jihadists slaughtered 129 people.

After fleeing Baghouz, Jean-Marc's wife Dorothee Maquere told AFP earlier this month that her husband had been killed after her brother-in-law.

Fabien was killed by a drone, and then Jean-Michel was killed by a mortar round, she said.

On its Telegram channels on Friday, IS released an infographic titled, "So you think we're going to go away?"

Below, it listed a series of attacks it claimed to have carried out including in Nigeria, Syria and Iraq.
