US believes it 'likely' Iran missile downed Ukraine plane: Pompeo
Washington, Jan 10 (AFP) Jan 10, 2020
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Friday the United States believes it is "likely" that an Iranian missile downed a Ukrainian airliner that crashed near Tehran, killing all 176 on board.

"We do believe it's likely that plane was shot down by an Iranian missile. We are going to let the investigation play out before we make a final determination."

Pompeo's remarks came as Iran faced mounting international pressure to allow a "credible" investigation into Wednesday's Boeing 737 crash, which several Western governments have blamed on an accidental missile strike.
