One dead in strike on residential building in Kyiv
Kyiv, March 14 (AFP) Mar 14, 2022
A Russian air strike on a residential building in Kyiv killed one and wounded several others, Ukrainian emergency services said on Monday, revising an earlier toll down by one.

"As of 7:40 am (0540 GMT) the body of one person was found dead in a nine-storey apartment building" in the capital's Obolon district, the emergency service said in a statement.

An earlier statement had said that the strike had killed two people and wounded a dozen more.

In an updated statement, the emergency service said that one person died, three people had been hospitalised and nine were treated on the scene.

Russian forces have intensified their attacks on urban areas in Ukraine more than two weeks after Russian President Vladimir Putin sent troops into the country on February 24.

Russia says it does not target civilians, but Ukraine has reported hundreds of deaths of non-combatants.
