Israel army says striking Hezbollah weapons in south Beirut
Jerusalem, Sept 27 (AFP) Sep 27, 2024
The Israeli military said Saturday that it was conducting strikes targeting Hezbollah weapons stored beneath residential buildings in the south of the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

"The IDF (military) is currently conducting targeted strikes on weapons belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organisation that were stored beneath civilian buildings" in a southern suburb of Beirut, the military said in a statement.

A source close to Hezbollah, requesting anonymity, said that "a new Israeli strike" hit south Beirut's Laylaki neighbourhood.

The Israeli army had earlier said it would attack the area and warned residents to evacuate.
