The Colombian navy on Wednesday announced its first seizure of an unmanned narco-submarine off its Caribbean coast, which was operated using "automated navigational technology."

The vessel was not carrying drugs, but a Western security source based in the region told AFP it was believed to be on a trial run by a cocaine trafficking cartel.
