BlackSky Technology Inc. (NYSE: BKSY) has been awarded a seven-figure contract to provide Non-Earth Imaging (NEI) services aimed at enhancing Space Domain Awareness (SDA) capabilities. Under this agreement, BlackSky will integrate high-resolution imagery from its Gen-2 satellites to bolster the customer's existing SDA asset collection.

"BlackSky's expansion into SDA unlocks additional value from our current high-resolution Gen-2 constellation and immediately meets our customer's demand for NEI solutions," said Brian O'Toole, CEO of BlackSky. "Our continued momentum in the NEI space demonstrates technical agility and a strategic commitment to innovation that provides reliable, practical value to Space Situational Awareness operations."

Space Situational Awareness (SSA) plays a crucial role in detecting, monitoring, and managing space objects and their operating environments. SSA data is essential for ensuring space safety and supporting real-time coordination of space traffic. This information aids operators in preventing potential collisions with other space objects or avoiding debris from fragmentation events, meteor storms, and other natural occurrences that could impact space missions.

SSA is a key foundation for all space safety measures and space traffic management activities. It is also an integral part of SDA, enabling decision-makers to understand both their current and predicted operational conditions in space.

By offering NEI capabilities, BlackSky can capitalize on previously underutilized satellite capacity-especially when satellites pass over areas such as oceans or the dark side of Earth. This capability enhances BlackSky's overall service offering and strengthens support for space security missions.

BlackSky is a prominent provider of real-time geospatial intelligence, offering on-demand, high-frequency imagery, monitoring, and analysis of strategic global locations and events. BlackSky designs, owns, and operates a leading low Earth orbit satellite constellation, optimized for cost-effective imagery collection. Its Spectra AI software platform processes data from both BlackSky's constellation and third-party sensors, delivering critical insights and analytics to meet customer needs.
