Lockheed Martin secures new C2BMC-Next contract for global defense integration

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a major contract by the Missile Defense Agency, valued at a ceiling of $4.1 billion, to innovate and lead the expansion of the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) system. The contract spans from May 2024 to April 2029, with an extension option until April 2034.

The upgrade, known as C2BMC-Next, involves implementing cutting-edge security technologies for enhanced, quick-response capabilities across multiple domains. Work will primarily be conducted in Lockheed Martin's new facility in Huntsville, Alabama, and in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

"C2BMC's established reliability in providing continuous, worldwide communication makes this upgrade critical. The enhanced capability to coordinate securely and instantly with international allies will significantly advance global defense mechanisms," stated Erika Marshall, Lockheed Martin's C4ISR Vice President.

The focus of C2BMC-Next also includes improving global integration, marking a new chapter in operational cooperation with allied nations. This initiative aligns with the Department of Defense's strategy to streamline and integrate defense capabilities comprehensively.

Additionally, C2BMC-Next aims to boost Space Domain Awareness with advanced technologies that enable a unified view of global battlespaces, facilitating unprecedented levels of sensor connectivity and data integration.
