Mitsubishi Electric has made a significant foray into the burgeoning field of drone logistics with the launch of its comprehensive AnyMile platform. This announcement, building on the Alpha version introduced at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), marks a significant step in the company's expansion into drone-based logistics and operations management.

AnyMile is designed to cater to a wide array of industry professionals, including drone operators, corporate shippers, and those in the transportation and logistics sector. Its feature set is robust, offering tools for managing shipments, fleets, and service operations. This platform is not just about enhancing operational efficiency; it also aligns with the environmental goals of reducing carbon footprints, a critical aspect in today's sustainability-focused business landscape.

The drone logistics and transportation market, as per Allied Markets Research, is on a steep growth trajectory, with projections estimating it to reach a valuation of $52.32 billion by 2031. This growth is fueled by an increasing demand for time-efficient deliveries, especially in last-mile logistics, a domain where drones have shown immense potential.

One of the standout features of AnyMile is its inclusivity in terms of drone compatibility. The platform supports all known drone categories - from multi-rotor and single-rotor to fixed-wing, fixed-wing hybrid VTOL, and eVTOL drones. This broad compatibility underscores Mitsubishi Electric's commitment to providing an end-to-end resource planning and management system adaptable to various operational needs.

In addition to operational management, AnyMile introduces a novel Manufacturer Portal. This portal is a strategic addition, offering drone manufacturers a platform to showcase their vehicles. Prospective buyers can access a wealth of information, including marketing collateral, performance data, warranty details, usage instructions, and maintenance schedules. The inclusion of potential financing options further enhances this feature's utility.

Zafer Sahinoglu, vice president and general manager of Mitsubishi Electric Innovation Center (MELIC), emphasizes the platform's alignment with Mitsubishi Electric's mission. "As the industry continues its rapid growth, management of drones, terminals, routes, and every other aspect of operations will become increasingly more complex, which speaks to the need for an all-encompassing logistics operations management platform like AnyMile," he explains. This vision resonates with the company's goal of fostering a globally interconnected and sustainable smart society.

A key aspect of AnyMile is its integration with an Uncrewed Traffic Management System (UTM) from OneSky. This integration is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of drones in low-altitude airspace. The UTM system manages traffic, maintains regulatory compliance, and aids in efficient route planning - all essential for large-scale drone operations.

Additional features of AnyMile include the ability to schedule cargo pickups, track deliveries to multiple destinations, live maps, setup of terminal and station locations, and management of drone maintenance tasks. The platform also streamlines routine operational tasks like generating customer invoices, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and booking services for drones, including refueling and servicing.
