SENER and Diehl BGT Defence (DBD) have signed an agreement in IRIS-T SL (Extended Range Surface Launched) programme framework, making SENER a subcontractor for the design of the IRIS-T Surface-to-Air missile's control system.

This version of the missile, called IRIS-T SL, will be integrated as a complementary weapon to the Patriot PAC-3 in the multinational MEADS antiaircraft defence programme under contract to the German Defence Ministry.

According to the signed agreement, SENER is in charge of the mechanical and electronic design and development of the actuators making up the control section.

It is also in charge of manufacturing prototypes that will be used to check the design and to qualify the missile, and eventually of future unit mass production.
