Iraqi security forces seized on Tuesday nine rockets and a launchpad that were set up to target Baghdad International Airport, a government spokesperson told AFP."Security forces foiled an attempt to target Baghdad International Airport," said Saad Maan, the spokesperson of the government's security media cell.
They "seized a launchpad loaded with nine rockets ready for launch in the Abu Ghraib area", near Baghdad.
Baghdad International Airport includes a military base that hosts American advisors and previously housed US-led coalition troops.
A shadowy group called Saraya Awliyaa al-Dam (Guardians of Blood), which claims to be part of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, said Monday it was behind drone attacks on Baghdad airport.
