Austria said Saturday is it moving its embassy in Iran to neighbouring Azerbaijan because of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has put Tehran under regular US-Israeli airstrikes."Because of current developments the Austrian embassy in Tehran is being temporarily moved to Baku," a foreign ministry spokesman said in a statement said to AFP.
"Consular services are suspended until further notice," he added.
On Thursday, Italy also announced that it was closing its embassy in Iran and moving its staff to Azerbaijan "for security reasons".
Saturday saw a fresh blitz of US and Israeli air strikes in Iran, including one that set Tehran's Mehrabad International Airport ablaze.
Since the conflict broke out last week, Austria has organised four charter flights to evacuate people from the region.
More than 800 people were able to leave on the flights that took off from Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
