Motphys launches robot training base to advance simulation technology in China

Motphys has inaugurated China's first domestically developed robot simulation training base in Wuhan, Hubei province, following a partnership agreement with the Wuhan Dongxihu district government. The facility began operations on Oct 30 with the objective of strengthening China's capabilities in developing robotics and embodied intelligence platforms using exclusively homegrown technology.

The facility provides simulation environments ranging from common retail and residential settings to specialized industrial and emergency scenarios. By deploying Motphys' MotrixLab simulation engine, the base enables robots to gain experience and adapt in thousands of virtual situations, accelerating development cycles and minimizing costs. The platform replicates physical laws with real-time fidelity, and integrates tasks such as manipulating objects in virtual spaces and synchronizing robot actions in corresponding real environments.

Cui Hanqing, founder of Motphys, emphasized, "Simulation training serves as a 'virtual school' for robots, enabling them to complete pre-job training in a simulated environment before taking up their posts." Cui explained that every aspect of the Motphys platform, from code and toolchains to data pipelines, is independently developed to rapidly iterate for China's specific industrial needs.

Several leading Chinese robotics manufacturers, including Unitree Robotics, Booster Robotics, and Noetix Robotics, currently utilize Motphys' simulation platform, which has improved their robots' physical-world performance after virtual training. Universities such as Peking University and Harbin Institute of Technology have also incorporated this system into research programs.

The initiative aligns with Wuhan's strategy to build a comprehensive robotics sector, emphasizing secure data and localized technology stacks. Motphys will establish its Central China headquarters and R and D center in Dongxihu, complementing its Beijing presence. Cui stated, "Data security is essential for embodied intelligence. Being based in Dongxihu, home to the national cybersecurity base, is an optimal choice for us."

Xiang Jianhua, an official at the district industrial development office, added that the region is developing an industrial ecosystem for robotics, supporting processes from data collection and algorithm design to manufacturing and solution deployment. "From data collection and algorithm development to hardware manufacturing and application deployment, we're creating the conditions for clustered innovation," Xiang said.

Trump launches 'Genesis Mission' to speed AI-driven research
Washington (AFP) Nov 24, 2025
President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday establishing the "Genesis Mission," a national initiative to harness AI for scientific breakthroughs, comparing its scope to the Manhattan Project that produced the atomic bomb during World War II. The plan is part of the Trump administration's aggressive, low-regulation strategy to boost big tech's race to stay ahead of China on artificial intelligence and cement US dominance in the fast-expanding field. The White House is also seeking way ... read more
