Expanded Michigan site boosts Redwire fuel cell production for Stalker drones

Redwire Corporation has opened a new 85,000 square foot facility in Ann Arbor, Michigan to increase the output of fuel cells powering its Stalker uncrewed aerial system (UAS). The move aims to meet rising demand for UAS components as federal policy encourages domestic drone manufacturing.

The expanded location nearly doubles Redwire's Michigan presence and increases vertical integration for its Edge Autonomy subsidiary. Edge Autonomy will scale up production of energy solutions including battery, filtration, and solid oxide fuel cells that power Stalker UAS as well as propane-powered fuel cells for freight rail and other critical uses.

Steve Adlich, President of Edge Autonomy, said, "This strategic expansion is a key investment in our vertical integration strategy for Stalker UAS production which is a major differentiator. As the Pentagon signals plans to stimulate domestic manufacturing of drones and critical UAS components, we are well positioned to activate increased production and support demand. We are very proud to build on our 25-year legacy in the Ann Arbor community, and this expansion underscores our commitment to both our customers and to the community."

Senator Gary Peters stated, "I'm excited that this new facility will help increase your capacity to meet many of the serious challenges facing our country today, while creating new jobs in our state. For more than 25 years, Edge Autonomy has been in operation here in Ann Arbor. I'm thrilled that this company has made this critical investment in this community, which will help ensure Edge Autonomy continues to be an asset to our state for years to come."

Officials marked the opening with a ribbon-cutting and production tours on November 13, 2025. Attendees included U.S. Senator Gary Peters, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, and local leaders.

By contrast, when three Russian fighter jets made an incursion into Estonian airspace in September, they were intercepted and no attempt was made to shoot them down - although the incident did make headlines and led to a Russia ... read more
