Frontgrade Technologies has unveiled the PSM28 VPX Power Supply Module, a compact, space-optimized solution engineered to deliver reliable and efficient power for next-generation spacecraft and payload systems.

The 3U module is based on Frontgrade's proprietary MAMBA architecture and Space GaN technology, converting 28V input to a regulated 12V output. It supports up to 24A peak current with a 150W nominal and 288W peak power rating, enabling it to meet the performance and environmental challenges of orbital missions.

Built for scalability, the PSM28 VPX allows parallel operation with active current sharing, ensuring flexible power expansion across Frontgrade's Reconfigurable Processing System (RPS-PS) and RPS-9X-PS platforms. Its design includes a primary 12V rail and six switched 12V outputs, each capable of supplying up to 100W continuous power, supporting mission-critical redundancy and efficient distribution for plug-in cards.

"The PSM28 VPX is more than a power converter, it's a scalable building block for mission success," said Lorne Graves, Chief Technology Officer at Frontgrade. "It brings a smarter, more fault-tolerant approach to spaceborne power systems, while staying compact and easy to integrate into SpaceVPX environments."

The system integrates Frontgrade's UT32M0R500 ARM Cortex-M0+ microcontroller, offering real-time monitoring, output management, and IPMI command-based control. Designed to support VITA 78.0 SpaceVPX standards, the PSM28 VPX provides radiation tolerance, interoperability, and advanced protection features to ensure reliable operation in demanding orbital conditions.
